Yes we have said adieu to summer, there is a slight nip in the air, & I love it. My yard looks bathed, happy & fresh. Finally it is sinking in that Fall is here. The tomatoes are growing, so are the bell peppers & hot peppers & other little things.

The kids are back to school. Summer is at the tail end; in Texas we will still have a few weeks of heat & then the more pleasant weather creeps in. Hot it is here, but I still feel sorry to see the summer go.The Labor Day, almost officially announced that summer will be gone soon, & gone will be the delightful fruits, berries, the warmth & the colors.

Khao Pad is what it is called – Thai: khao (is rice) + pad (of or relating to being stir-fried). Mine is a colorful & aromatic Thai inspired Fried Rice. I am not claiming that this is authentic, but it is rice & it is stir fried. I did not have very many ingredients to make it authentic, but I did use some of my brilliant ideas:-D. Overall it came out pretty good.. what can go wrong with vegetables & rice anyway?

A phone conversation, & a Home Delivery gone wrong…
It’s Friday evening…After pulling thru’ the 5 long weekdays, it’s finally here. Chilled Beer (lemonade for kids) & an evening out with friends in a local pizzeria is one option, the other one being having a quiet family time with a pizza home delivery. So one of these Fridays we opted on having that Oh! so precious (Quiet? no way!) family time & some thought of “custom pizza”.
I put the beer cans in the refrigerator, hubby goes up to pick a movie which we hope we can all enjoy together (mind it we have kids), & I pick up the phone and dial the number while I fish out the Pizza Coupon… here starts the drama-If you are like us ( “Picky Pizza People”) you would know what I am talking about.

Life is Beautiful, Satisfying, Fun, sometimes Sad & indeed a Challenge. Sometimes it also reminds you to be thankful for the little things, to be alive, to be able to share, love & laugh with family & friends. I am Thankful to be here to share this post with all of you today. Last tuesday I had an accident while I was getting by daughter back for her preschool. I got hit by a car from my left. Thankfully we are all safe, not a scratch on my little one & nothing on me except few burns from the air bags. Our car is gone & we need to get a new one. But we are here, all unhurt. Now thats something I should appreciate right? esp. when on the other side of the town on the same day one lady got hit by cars twice in a row and passed away. (more…)

Its Saturday and we arranged a get together with our family living in the town. It is great to have family near by when we are sooo far away from home. However, even a small get together would need some food right? When it is a preplanned party I always arrange to cook before hand so I get some time with the guests. This time I had absolutley no time ! I mean they were an hour away… I need a quick fix.

Bruschetta
Bruschetta, originates from Central Italy, is usually served as an appetizer. It is one of the simplest thing to make and can immensely gratify your tasting buds. Use any Italian Tuscan or French Baguette bread and top it with your favorite toppings. For this recipe I have used French Baguette and fresh Roma tomatoes seasoned with herbs and garlic.
It is one of the most lovable and wanted recipes among my guests and greatly enjoyed when served especially with red wine.
I am sending this for WYF- salad/soup/starter Event.
Ingredients:
1. 1 French Baguette OR Tuscan Italian Bread cut into thick slices
2. 8 Roma tomatoes chopped into small pieces
3. 2 cloves of garlic halved
4. 4 tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil
5. 2 teaspoon of freshly chopped basil or dried basil
6. A pinch of salt
7. ½ cup loosely packed Mozzarella cheese
Preparation:
Take 3 spoons of oil and add 1 spoon of basil to it.
Brush on one side of the bread slices.
Arrange the slices on a baking sheet in one layer with the oil side up. Bake in the oven for about 5 minutes.
While they are baking, add the rest of the basil to the rest of the oil and add it to the chopped tomatoes. Sprinkle the salt and stir the mix and let it sit for about 10 minutes.
Once the bread slices are done, take them and rub the garlic halves on the bread.
Spoon out a layer of the chopped tomato mix on the bread slices. Sprinkle the mozzarella cheese on the top.
