I have to admit that I am not much of a baker. Though I have come a long way from not even having baking powder, to baking my own breads at home, I still have that fast pulse effect right before I start to bake. Fancy desserts, gourmet cakes & the beautiful decorations which I so longingly stare at, are still beyond me. May be some day…..
This has been sitting in my draft for the longest time. The photos look pretty unappetizing even tho’ they tasted really good. All the zing & zest of the flavor of ginger could not uplift the mood of this post. But if i didn’t post it now it will never happen.
Tofu, or bean curd “is a food of Chinese origin, made by coagulating soy milk, and then pressing the resulting curds into blocks. There are many different varieties of tofu, including fresh tofu and tofu that has been processed in some way. Tofu has very little flavor or smell on its own, so it can be used either in savory or sweet dishes, and is often seasoned or marinated to suit the dish.”
Cinnamon, perhaps one of the most popular and tastiest of spices used for sweet & savory recipes. What many do not know is that cinnamon is actually the bark of a tree. I remember visiting the little farm of one my uncles when I was little. He once took me under a tree, took out a pocket knife & sliced out a soft bark from the tree & told me to first smell it & then chew on it! It was cinnamon.. this bark was still young, & had not matured enough to form the cinnamon sticks. The bark of the tree is pounded & soaked in sea water & distilled to make cinnamon oil.
