This is a luscious dessert; with all things sinful. Let your teeth bite into a layer of dark chocolate, and pleasure yourself with the soft soaked intoxicating interior; the kind that makes you close your eyes and feel that warm feeling running through you. A decadent dessert, perfect for the holidays and parties.

We have been having our share of warm spring air, pretty flowers & nascent green leaves against the blue blue sky (although it seems to have wandered off for the past week, & the nasty cold has butted it’s ugly head again). I have been enjoying the outdoors with my kids, the smell of the freshly mowed grass & humming “The spring is in the air/I’ll see lovers everywhere/I’m singing a song…..” to myself. I also have been thinking Pink.

Remember those Archie’s Galleries back in India? Valentine’s Day always stir up very special memories for me… all those times of courtship, of holding hands and spending hours browsing “Love” cards in the gallery along with other Love smitten college kids before the Valentine’s day. As silly as it sounds, it still puts a smile in our hearts:-) Yes I was 18 then… many eons ago, a part of that crowd in Archies as the Love Bug had bitten me too. Over the years the Archies cards have made ways to short sweet handwritten notes and little appreciations for one another. Many seasons have passed ( no we are not bald & old yet) - the aura & warmth of those intense flaming times still remains strong between both of us. I would say, given a lot of time thru’ the day we would make everyday our Valentine Day.

I had been in search of a perfect Rich Fruit cake for many months now. Just the way we used to have back home, during Christmas time – rich, moist, a zillions pieces of fruit at each bite, bursting with different taste & flavor. And every day the taste got better.
It was only during this time of the year that those enormous bowls would come out, to make the cake batter. For lots of cakes had to be baked for sharing. The whole family got involved in preparation & each had their own role to play – Chopping, measuring, and taking turns beating up the batter. Then the batter all ready would be transferred to even bigger containers to be taken to the local bakery to have them baked. The tiny oven at home was not enough to bake so many loaves at the same time. The bakery, I remember would be kept open all night, on the 23rd of December, for many would take their cake batter there.
