Fresh, full of shine and life, and with the vivid crimson flesh, these exquisite blood oranges are the treasure we found this week; the first of this year. I find them too beautiful to eat.

Those of you who have known me in the virtual or real world, must already be aware of my obsessions with orange and ginger. I really love them, each of them by themselves and and often paired together.
An intoxicating combination of preserved oranges and olive oil intensifies the flavors of this cake. The cake is moist and dripping with fresh flavors and we could not but fall in love with this one.
