Well, thats exactly whats going on in my words. I finally got myself started baking these cookies.\u00a0My girls have been asking for sugar cookies for a long time,\u00a0& with all the winter parties in schools, I thought this would\u00a0be a great time to bake them and share them. The kids like hanging around the kitchen when I make cookies. I love to see the anticipation in their eyes while they wait for the cookies to come out. Then comes the\u00a0icing part… we decided on snowflakes\u00a0this time… may be wishing for a\u00a0White Christmas in Texas?\u00a0<\/p>\n

Ok, while the cookies bake, how about listening to\u00a0 George Strait sing “Christmas Cookies..” ?. What a perfect combination. Here is a part of the song:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0Chorus:<\/em><\/strong>

\u00a0Ingredients:<\/strong><\/p>\n

  1. \n
    2\u00a0cups all-purpose flour<\/div>\n<\/li>\n
  2. \n
    1\u00a0teaspoon baking powder<\/div>\n<\/li>\n
  3. \n
    A pinch of\u00a0 salt<\/div>\n<\/li>\n
  4. \n
    1\/2 cup butter, softened<\/div>\n<\/li>\n
  5. \n
    3\/4\u00a0cups white sugar<\/div>\n<\/li>\n
  6. \n
    1\/2 teaspoon flaxseed (soaked in 2 tablespoons of warm water)<\/div>\n<\/li>\n
  7. \n
    2 Tablespoon ginger Juice<\/div>\n<\/li>\n
  8. \n
    1 teaspoon Cinnamon Powder<\/div>\n<\/li>\n
  9. \n
    1\/2 teaspoon Nutmeg<\/div>\n<\/li>\n
  10. \n
    1\u00a0teaspoons Vanilla Extract<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Note<\/strong>: The original recipe had eggs in it. I did not have any. If using eggs, use 1 egg for the above proportion.<\/p>\n

    Icing:<\/strong><\/p>\n

      \n
    1. 1\/2 Cup Confectionary sugar<\/li>\n
    2. 1\/2 Tablespoon of Butter<\/li>\n
    3. 1\/2 Teaspoon Corn Syrup<\/li>\n
    4. 1.5 Tablesoons Milk<\/li>\n
    5. 1 Teaspoon Lime Juice<\/li>\n
    6. Few Drops of Vanilla<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      OR use store bought icing.<\/p>\n

      Preparation:<\/strong><\/p>\n

      Sift flour, baking powder, Cinnamon, Nutmeg, and salt together, set aside.<\/p>\n

      In a large bowl,\u00a0beat the butter and stir in the sugar at\u00a0medium till its all fluffed up.\u00a0 Beat in the flaxseed, then stir in the vanilla & the ginger juice. Gradually blend in the sifted ingredients until fully absorbed. Cover dough, and chill for 2 hours.<\/p>\n

      Preheat oven to\u00a0350 degrees. Grease cookie sheets. On a clean floured surface, roll out small portions of chilled dough to about 1\/4 inch thickness. Cut out shapes using cookie cutters.<\/p>\n

      Bake 6 to 8 minutes in the preheated oven, or until edges are barely brown. (Do not overbake, they get hard. They look undone, but they really get done in that time.)<\/p>\n

      Remove from cookie sheets to cool on wire racks.<\/p>\n

      Note again: The original recipe described these as soft sugar cookies. Mine were not all that soft (they were more like regular sugar cookies), the reason I would think would be not using the egg.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

      To Prepare the Icing<\/em><\/strong>:<\/p>\n

      Beat all the ingredients together till they are smooth.<\/p>\n

      Apply the icing, (whatever procedure you want to use, thru’ a tube or a piper)….& do whatever your creativity allows. I do not get much time to perfect the art of icing. The children get impatient with the amount of time spent and then of course the pictures! I do not usually cover the cookies with icing, for the simple reason that I do not want my children to be licking up all that much icing. Believe me, thats what they do, lick up all the icing first…<\/p>\n

      Now they are ready… to eat or to be wrapped & shared.<\/p>\n
