Today I have the basic and most common Onion Pakoras.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-18876\" title=\"Pakora 1\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ecurry.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/08\/Pakora-11-465x620.jpg\" alt=\"Pakora \/Onion Fritters\" width=\"465\" height=\"620\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.ecurry.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/08\/Pakora-11-465x620.jpg 465w, http:\/\/www.ecurry.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/08\/Pakora-11-768x1024.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 465px) 100vw, 465px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong><em>Ingredients:<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<ol style=\"margin-top: 0in;\" type=\"1\">\n<li class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt; mso-list: l0 level1 lfo11; tab-stops: list .5in;\"><strong>Onions 3 Big Yellow or Red<\/strong><\/li>\n<li class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt; mso-list: l0 level1 lfo11; tab-stops: list .5in;\"><strong>Besan\/Chick Pea Flour (Gram Flour is NOT to be confused with GRAHAM Flour): 6-7 tablespoons full<\/strong><\/li>\n<li class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt; mso-list: l0 level1 lfo11; tab-stops: list .5in;\"><strong>3 tablespoon rice flour <\/strong><em>(optional &#8211; makes the fritters extra crispy)<\/em><\/li>\n<li class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt; mso-list: l0 level1 lfo11; tab-stops: list .5in;\"><strong>a pinch of baking soda<\/strong><\/li>\n<li class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt; mso-list: l0 level1 lfo11; tab-stops: list .5in;\"><strong>Salt to taste<\/strong><\/li>\n<li class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt; mso-list: l0 level1 lfo11; tab-stops: list .5in;\"><strong>chili powder (if you want &#8211; adjust amount to taste)<\/strong><\/li>\n<li class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt; mso-list: l0 level1 lfo11; tab-stops: list .5in;\"><strong>any spice &#8211; about 1\/2 &#8211; 1 teaspoon <\/strong><em>(usually <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ecurry.com\/blog\/indian\/indian-kitchen-basics\/the-most-commonly-used-indian-spices\/\" target=\"_blank\">cumin or ajwain\/carom seeds<\/a> are used) &#8211; lightly crushed<\/em><\/li>\n<li class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt; mso-list: l0 level1 lfo11; tab-stops: list .5in;\"><strong>Oil to deep fry<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Method:<\/em> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Peel and slice the onions vertically in to thin half moons.<\/p>\n<p>Mix salt,\u00a0 besan\/chick pea flour, rice flour, chili powder and spice\u00a0 with the sliced onions and mix it with hands, Squeeze the onions while you mix so the water from the onion comes out and makes a paste with the flour mix.<\/p>\n<p>It should a sticky gooey paste. If it is not, you will need to add little water. Set the paste aside.<\/p>\n<p>Heat enough oil in a pan or wok to deep fry. Spoon out the mix, one full tablespoon at a time in the hot oil and fry till they are golden brown.
