Pomegranate Cooler

Friday, June 5th, 2009

pom-drink-1

We had received our Pack of POM (100% Pomegranate Juice), in little snowmen like bottles about two months back. Most of them were gone in a couple of days,  straight from the bottle chilled. I did manage to save one to make this drink. This antioxidants packed juice rocks! I did not even contemplate cooking with it, but the possibilities of making coolers/cocktails & mocktails are endless, & our heads are have been busy buzzing with ideas.

The Pink Breeze

Sunday, March 29th, 2009

pink-breeze-3

We have been having our share of warm spring air, pretty flowers & nascent green leaves against the blue blue sky (although it seems to have wandered off for the past week, & the nasty cold has butted it’s ugly head again). I have been enjoying the outdoors with my kids, the smell of the freshly mowed grass & humming “The spring is in the air/I’ll see lovers everywhere/I’m singing a song…..” to myself. I also have been thinking Pink.

Cinnamon Tea

cinnamon-tea-2

Cinnamon, perhaps one of the most popular and tastiest of spices used for sweet & savory recipes.  What many do not know is that cinnamon is actually the bark of a tree. I remember visiting the little farm of one my uncles when I was little. He once took me under a tree, took out a pocket knife & sliced out a soft bark from the tree & told me to first smell it & then chew on it! It was cinnamon.. this bark was still young, & had not matured enough to form the cinnamon sticks. The bark of the tree is pounded & soaked in sea water & distilled to make cinnamon oil.

Flor de Jamaica Beverage

flower-of-jamaica-21

A Stunning  drink which comes with a pretty vivid color & a  taste as good as it looks. The name, the look, the color, the taste - endless appeals. With the warm air already filling in, I am sure this is going to be The Drink for us  during the next few months. That absolutely gorgeous color, the slight tang,  & only a few easy steps, with may be some lime & a hint of mint & some spices, result in this all engaging & refreshing Flower Tea or a Sorrel Punch!

An “Angel’s Delight” for your Sweetheart…

Monday, February 9th, 2009

A drink with Love as the main ingredient!

This is a  wonderful dessert cocktail to serve at any party or just between the two of you:-). Arjun made this for me as you can probably guess;-) We will have another round of this on the Valentine’s day. Much to my delight, he loves experimenting with cocktails & mocktails & most of the times the outcomes are fabulous. The  recipe is from “Classic & Contemporary COCKTAILS” . Angel’s Delight is a version of Pousse Cafe, an unmixed mixed drink. This means that if you have steady hand, you could make different layers with the different ingredients, to form a rainbow effect.
